Offline editing is part of post production process of film making and video making, in which raw footage is copied and edited with no effect, motion graphic or color grading. Offline editing is a combination of timing, storytelling, and fine-tuning. Once the project has been completely offline edited, the original media will be assembled to online editing stage.
Online editing, now better known as finishing, starts with an offline project file or a project interchange file, which describes the media you need to process at full quality. Online editing focuses on image quality, color correction, maintaining broadcast video specifications, detailed effects work, titles, audio levels, and so on.
